Deerfield Beach is a city in Broward County, Florida, USA. The city is named for the numerous deer that once roamed the area. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was approximately 75,000. It is part of the Miami–Fort Lauderdale–Pompano Beach Metropolitan Statistical Area.Deerfield Beach’s history dates back to 1890 when a small settlement named Hillsboro was developed along the Hillsboro River. As the population grew to 20 by 1898, the settlement was now served by its own post office and the town was renamed Deerfield for the deer that grazed along the Hillsboro River.By the early twentieth century, as Deerfield’s population continued to grow, the Florida East Coast Railroad constructed tracks en route to Miami bisecting the town. Deerfield’s early settlers were mostly farmers who grew pineapples, tomatoes, green beans, squash, and fished along the Intracoastal Waterway. Through the 1940s, Deerfield remained a largely agricultural based community, but during the decade the town’s name was changed to Deerfield Beach.Deerfield Beach has many things to do and see while you are in our area. In addition, there are 3 Regional or Satellite Courthouses; The North Regional Courthouse at 1600 West Hillsboro, Blvd., Deerfield Beach, Florida 33442, the South Regional Courthouse at 3550 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, Florida 33021, and the West Regional Courthouse at 100 North Pine Island Road, Plantation, Florida 33324. Many misdemeanors (depending on where they occurred) and some “county” civil cases are heard at the regional courthouses. Most traffic infractions and crimes are often heard at these courthouses as well. Jury Trials are not held at the satellite courthouses. If a jury trial is demanded, then the case is moved to the Main Courthouse, which accommodates jury trials.
