South Florida Personal Injury Cases In The News & The Tragic Jet Ski Accident of Usher’s Stepson
Two Deadly Accidents in South Florida where Pedestrians were killed & the horrific water vessel accident this past weekend involving Pop Sensation USHER Raymond’s step son will be discussed below.
Over the past couple of weeks there were two stories in South Florida that stayed at the top of the news and were major headlines in the local newspapers. Both stories involved deadly car accidents. The Deadly car crash near the Miami Marlins stadium, claimed the lives of four people a little over a week ago. Three pedestrians and the sole driver were killed. According to the local authorities, say Diaz and family members Esther Terrero de Diaz, 53, Franklin Diaz, 14, and Adriana Diaz, 13, were struck by an van that was driving out of control. This occurred on the corner of Northwest 7th Street, the evening of June 30 as the family were walking back to their car after enjoying a beautiful family outing at Miami Marlins new stadium.
On this same day about 10 minutes away in Liberty City a neighborhood in Miami, patrons were going in and out of the Jumbos restaurant. Jumbos is a black own restaurant and a staple in this community. It is located on the popular 7th ave stretch in Miami Dade county. Out of no where a car stormed into the restaurant killing a local Pastor and Deacon. The driver was under the influence of alcohol and a bottle of liquor was found in the car. The bottle of liquor was open. The driver of the car had a history, including an Attempted Murder charge that was dropped as well as other charges for which he had been found guilty of or plead out to.
The neighborhood and citizens all over South Florida were saddened by both of these unfortunate events. In the first case the driver who hit the pedestrians died. In the accident near Marlins stadium, the driver died. The driver in the Jumbos restaurant crash is behind bars facing two counts of Vehicular Manslaughter/DUI as well as other charges related to damaging the building. The building was damaged substantially, however they were able to open up for business the following Sunday. Thad day they held a dinner in honor of the two Clergy men that died.
Usher’s stepson critically injured near Atlanta
Pop Star USHER Raymond’s stepson Kyle Glover, was critically injured on Lake Lanier near Atlanta last weekend. Usher Raymond and his ex wife, Tamika Foster Raymond received the news that her son from a previous marriage had been involved in a horrific jet ski accident on Lake Lanier. The inner tube was hit by a jet ski and both kids were thrown off the inner tube. Glover was struck by a jet ski while he was riding in an inner tube being pulled by a pontoon boat on Georgia’s Lake Lanier. The young boy and a 15-year-old girl, who was not identified, were both airlifted to Child’s Healthcare at Egleston Hospital in Atlanta.
According to Georgia Department of Natural Resources Sgt. Mike Burgamy, a pontoon was pulling two juveniles on an inner tube, and the watercraft ran over the top of them,” The young girl whose name is being withheld suffered a gash to the head and a broken arm. It looks like she’ll be ok and make a full recovery. Kyle, suffered a blow to the head and was knocked unconscious. Its been reported by many media outlets that he is brain dead.
Even though Usher and his ex wife have been fighting a very public child custody battle, Usher has remained right by her and his other sons side. Its being reported that he is seeking to resolve the custody battle with joint custody instead of his push for sole custody, as a way to easy the burden that Ms. Raymond-Foster is carrying. Cases involving jet skis are becoming more and more common. This is increasing the push require and enforce water vessel licenses nationwide for jet skis.
Last year in Miami near South Beach, Singer Sean Kingston was involved in a jet ski accident. He was rescued by a passing boater who happen to be a member of the Coast Guard. The timing of the Coast Guard being near the bridge was crucial to Mr. Kingston’s recovery. Sean Kingston’s jet ski crashed into a wall and he was knocked unconscious. He has since made a full recovery after remaining in the hospital for weeks. This occurred during the popular Urban Beach Weekend during Memorial Day Weekend.
